A hopeful question about setting a boundary before I am exhausted

A recent moment brought up setting a boundary before I am exhausted for me. I am trying to notice what helps without turning recovery into another test I have to pass. Rest can be part of responding to overload, not a reward that has to be earned. I am especially interested in approaches that still work on imperfect days.

My experience has been uneven too. I started noting what happened just before a difficult moment, and over time a few useful patterns became visible.

I relate to the part about setting a boundary before I am exhausted. What usually tells you that you need comfort, practical help, or simply some space?

Sometimes I tell one trusted person exactly what would help—listening, company, or a quick check-in later. Being specific takes away some of the guesswork.
