I wanted to write honestly about building friendships in a new place. I would like to approach it with more curiosity and less pressure than I have in the past. Connection often begins with a smaller and less polished invitation than we imagine. I would appreciate hearing what this has looked like in real life for other people.

One thing that has helped me is sending a low-pressure message that does not require a long conversation. I keep the goal deliberately small so it feels supportive rather than like another obligation.
