A tiny bit of progress with using a short breathing pause

It took me a while to name it, but I am dealing with using a short breathing pause. I am learning that a response can be worthwhile even when it does not change everything at once. For me, being present means returning gently, not holding perfect concentration. Has anyone found a small, repeatable response that makes the next hour easier?

I relate to the part about using a short breathing pause. What usually tells you that you need comfort, practical help, or simply some space?

One thing that has helped me is noticing three physical sensations and letting my attention settle there. I keep the goal deliberately small so it feels supportive rather than like another obligation.

My experience has been uneven too. I started noting what happened just before a difficult moment, and over time a few useful patterns became visible.
