I wanted to write honestly about balancing closeness with personal space. I am learning that a response can be worthwhile even when it does not change everything at once. Care and boundaries can coexist, even when expressing both feels uncomfortable. Gentle suggestions and personal experiences are both welcome.

One thing that has helped me is using one clear sentence about what I feel and what I am asking for. I keep the goal deliberately small so it feels supportive rather than like another obligation.

I appreciate the honesty here. It is encouraging to see people leave room for different needs, different timelines, and imperfect progress.

That is a helpful question. I call a step manageable when I can begin it without needing to feel completely ready first.

Thank you for naming balancing closeness with personal space. The details may differ for each person, but your post made me feel less alone in it.
