Does anyone else relate to listening during a tense conversation?

It took me a while to name it, but I am dealing with listening during a tense conversation. I am trying to notice what helps without turning recovery into another test I have to pass. Care and boundaries can coexist, even when expressing both feels uncomfortable. Gentle suggestions and personal experiences are both welcome.
