Does anyone else relate to handling an anniversary that feels heavy?

It took me a while to name it, but I am dealing with handling an anniversary that feels heavy. Some days I can take a useful next step, while on other days simply acknowledging it feels like progress. Healing does not follow a schedule, and difficult moments can return without erasing progress. I am especially interested in approaches that still work on imperfect days.

Thank you for naming handling an anniversary that feels heavy. The details may differ for each person, but your post made me feel less alone in it.

I appreciate the honesty here. It is encouraging to see people leave room for different needs, different timelines, and imperfect progress.

Sometimes I tell one trusted person exactly what would help—listening, company, or a quick check-in later. Being specific takes away some of the guesswork.

My experience has been uneven too. I started noting what happened just before a difficult moment, and over time a few useful patterns became visible.

That is a helpful question. I call a step manageable when I can begin it without needing to feel completely ready first.
